DT is taught across the school from Early years to Year 2. We have four main topics each year focusing on food, textiles, structures and mechanisms. Within each topic we always start by researching and planning, followed by designing, making and evaluating our product. Our aim is that children have a deep understanding of different techniques and know the purpose and intended user of each topic. The skills we learn build each year, for example, in Early Years we explore how we can attach different fabric together and in year 2 we learn how to sew using a needle and thread. Children at Trewirgie are always so proud of their creations.
